What is ANTHEM?
ANTHEM is an acronym standing for Alliance for North Texas Healthy Effective Marriages. We are dedicated to improving the lives of North Texas residents by equipping them with the skills to create and sustain healthy marriages, families, and relationships.

What is marriage education?
The idea behind marriage education is to help couples learn how to create and maintain a successful, long lasting, and stable marriage. Couples can learn the necessary tools to increase positive behaviors that contribute to the overall unity and satisfaction in their marriage, and decrease negative behaviors that can cause frustration and anxiety.

What does a relationship workshop look like?
ANTHEM strives to make its relationships workshops fun and interactive. A workshop will consist of several couples, and a facilitator who will lead the workshop. Couples will learn tools related to conflict resolution, effective communication, increasing relational intimacy, and many more, and will be able to practice these tools while interacting with their spouse/significant other.

Who is in charge of or leads a relationship workshop?
ANTHEM has a large base of facilitators that lead the workshops. All of the facilitators have been trained to teach marriage education to the couples in attendance. In addition to being trained, facilitators have also gone through the workshop as well so that they are more able to relate to the workshop participants.

Why should I participate in a relationship workshop/marriage education?
Research has shown that couples who participate in as little as 8 hours of relationship education improve communication and conflict management skills, have a constructive thought process that increases self confidence and a sense of good will in their relationships, and show a decrease in physical aggression and destructive behavior patterns.

Why are the workshops so long?
Relationship workshops are 8 hours in length. The reason that the workshops take several hours is because of the amount of information that couples must learn in order to be fully equipped in improving their relationships. Loving for life is a long time, so why should any less time and effort be put into learning the skills to help you do so?

How much does attending a workshop cost?
All of the ANTHEM relationship workshops are FREE! ANTHEM is funded by the government to give free premarital and marital education to North Texas residents. In addition to this, couples who participate in the 8 hours of premarital education will receive a $60 reduction off of their marriage licensing fee.

What kinds of topics will be discussed at the workshop?
The kinds of topics that are discussed at a relationship workshop have to do with:
Effective communication
Conflict resolution
Creating and maintaining relational intimacy
Anger management
Parenting
And much more!

My spouse has reservations about attending a workshop with me. What can I tell him to encourage him to go?
Lots of people have reservations about attending a relationship workshop, but in reality, what do you have to lose?
