A Senior V.P. of one of the world’s largest oil companies laments that “it is a sad fact that, every time the company looses an engineer to a disintegrating marriage, it takes two years and a quarter of a million dollars to recoop the loss”. An owner of a large nation-wide trucking company cites the “cost” to his company of a long-haul driver on the road for a year. Not only a divorce from his wife but one from the company, as well.
Question: How much is lost to American businesses corporation, owners and shareholders due to decreased productivity stemming from marriage and relationship difficulties?
Answer: conservatively $6 Billion/year.
Question: In the year following a divorce, how much time loss on the job has been discovered?
Answer: One study found that in the year following divorce, employees lost an average of 168 hours of work time, equivalent to being fully absent four weeks in one calendar year.
Question: For an average employee making $20/hour, what is the projected cost to the company of that employee divorcing?
Answer: approximately $8,000.00Question: What is the ROI that studies have attributed to employer-sponsored programs targeted at reducing employee stress and increasing workplace health?
Answer: Between $1.40 and $6.85 Profit and loss is the bottom line for any business. One of the biggest breakthrough’s for companies in more recent years is the implementation of cost-effective “wellness” programs. These programs are clearly aimed at the inargueable defense that an “ounce of prevention” to keep an employee productive through optimal health is worth more than the “pound of cure” for costs and time of any illness, as well as, rising health care costs as a result. Ignore the fact that wellness improves a company’s overall financial health and you will decrease a company’s profitability.Anthem Strong Families provides education and skills that teach individuals how to be the Champion for families and children.
